The coastline near Durdle Door in Dorset. These sedimentary rocks are being eroded by the action of weather and waves. You can see a white spot on the headland in the middle of the picture. This is an arch caused by the sea wearing a path through the softer rock. Eventually the arch will get bigger and bigger before collapsing and leaving a pillar of rock called a stack. This area is very popular with tourists and the white path is now so well worn that it is a metre or more deeper than the surrounding soil.
