This
dog is on a tomb in Salisbury Cathedral. The marble is a good rock for
statues as it is hard and shiny and not too brittle. Because it is a metamorphic
rock formed from a sedimentary one it has interesting patterns in it formed
when the layers of sediment were forming on the sea bed many millions
of years ago.
