| The mute swan is a well know water bird. They feed on plants, water insects and snails - so they are omnivores. They are mute as they have no call like other birds. They do hiss if disturbed. Their wings make a loud throbbing sound when they fly. The swans you see in the summer will most likely live here all through the year. In the winter they are joined, in eastern England by other swans who migrate from Europe where it is colder than here. | ||
